Board of Trustees Coaching

Become a more effective board member and lead your organization toward a more successful and sustainable future.

During this coaching partnership, you’ll identify your role and learn how to leverage your strengths to communicate and collaborate more effectively. In the group coaching format, your board will establish a culture of trust, shared purpose and high performance, developing skills to navigate complex healthcare challenges with clarity and confidence and serve as true stewards of your organizational mission.

Support growth at the personal, team and organizational level through focused coaching designed to strengthen leadership performance and achieve measurable results.

Coaching Format

This 6-month coaching solution includes quarterly sessions with an HLI-certified coach, as well as on-demand calls if needed. In an individual or group setting, you’ll map out a strategy to increase board effectiveness through a five-phase process.

1. Relationship Building

You and/or your board will establish rapport with your coach and assess your coaching readiness. You’ll create a relationship contract and develop a coaching plan for the partnership.

2. Assessments

To build self-awareness, you’ll take a 360° comprehensive leadership assessment and your coach will interview key stakeholders. After discussing the results and highlighting strengths and growth areas, you’ll identify development areas to prioritize during the engagement.

3. Goal Setting

Working with your coach, you and/or your board will then create a Board Development Plan based on your desired outcomes, with clearly defined objectives and completion targets. Together, you’ll ensure your objectives align with organizational initiatives.

4. Accountability

As you work through your plan, your coach will check in regularly to support you and/or your board as you tackle key objectives. He or she will assess progress and provide review and feedback, assisting with problem solving as needed.

5. Transformation

You and your coach will reflect on the engagement and define opportunities for additional growth. You’ll also receive a summary report highlighting key insights and offering recommendations for continued individual and collective growth.

Throughout the virtual engagement, you’ll use an online platform that supports communication and collaboration and provides direct access to assessments and other resources.

The partnership is dynamic, with the coach checking in regularly to ensure you’re receiving tailored support and guidance.
