Health System Simulation
Hands-On Experience for a Changing Healthcare Landscape
We are currently working in collaboration with Columbia University to reimagine this program as an in-person experience in 2026. You can participate in the multi-day simulation in June or October, at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health in New York.
What Is the Health System Simulation?
The Health System Simulation is a realistic exercise that helps you build the strategic problem-solving skills you need to succeed as a senior leader in today’s evolving healthcare environment.
Accept the challenge, and you’ll navigate modern healthcare barriers, adopt unique approaches to solve increasingly difficult problems, and dispute long-held assumptions about what solutions will work (and what won’t) in a modern multi-hospital market.

During the simulation, you’ll act as part of a hospital’s senior leadership team operating through several market cycles— receiving strategic financial analysis and feedback from expert faculty consultants along the way—and work to prevent supply chain disruptions, manage lost revenues and address burnout among frontline workers.
You’ll make all decisions central to long-term organizational success, including service line mix, capacity, marketing, quality investment, insurer relations, staffing and financial structure, alongside your fellow participants. Additionally, you’ll create a mission statement, benchmark your progress, respond to topical news and develop a public service program.
The simulation, led by current and former senior-level healthcare executives, gives you the chance to respond to crises, seize opportunities and confidently make strategic decisions as a healthcare leader.
