There are more than 63 million people in the U.S. providing care for patients with chronic and serious illnesses, many also facing mental health and physical challenges. Not only do these caregivers need help, but there is a fiscal imperative to do so; patient health outcomes and spending are directly tied to their caregivers’ well-being.

Led by the pioneers of this new field, this session reviews the rationale for and the basics of building a hospital-based caregiver support program. Speakers will emphasize the imperative for caregiver support and share best practices in caregiver identification, documentation, services, billing and more.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how caregiver support programs are financially self-sustaining.
  • Assess the opportunity for organizations to adopt a hospital-based caregiver support program.
  • Identify resources to assist in the establishment of new caregiver support programs.
