Biography
Kee Chan, PhD, MBA, is an expert in designing models to evaluate the cost and benefits of programs for improving population health and public health. Her research led to the development of a screening test to detect T-cell receptor excision circles (TRECs) in newborns, in which the absence of TRECs indicates severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID). Currently all the US states are implementing newborn screening for SCID. Dr. Chan has in-depth knowledge from taking biomedical and translational research into public health implementation. From 2020 to 2024, Dr. Chan served as the scientific strategy manager of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. She served as the program director of the online MPH program in Health Policy and Administration from 2015 to 2019 and as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois–Chicago School of Public Health. She currently holds an adjunct faculty position, teaching graduate-level courses in management and leadership. Dr. Chan has led several workshops for the faculty to engage in digital education and learning. Her teaching interests include the intersection of science and strategic planning, financial analysis, public health management, and medical decision-making analysis.
